Do you need to add, delete, or edit shifts for your volunteer Opportunities? You can make those edits from the Opportunities area of your dashboard! Here we cover:
How to edit shifts as a Site Manager
To get started:
1. Go to Volunteerism > Opportunities.
2. Click the Opportunity that has Custom or Recurring Shifts assigned.
3. Click the Edit Shifts tab and start editing!

How to delete shifts
How to delete individual shifts
1. Go to Volunteerism > Opportunities.
2. Select the Opportunity with Custom or Recurring Shifts assigned.
3. Click the Edit Shifts tab.
4. Select the (X) icon under the Options column for the shift you want to delete.
- If the Opportunity has responses, a popup appears to confirm you selection.
- We recommend reaching out to the volunteers who responded to update them of this change.
How to delete shifts in bulk
1. Go to Volunteerism > Opportunities.
2. Select the Opportunity with Custom or Recurring Shifts assigned.
3. Click the Edit Shifts tab.
4. Check the boxes beside each shift you want to delete and click Delete Selected Shifts.
✏️ Quick tip: You can check the box beside the Shift Begins column to select all. Opting to delete all selected shifts only deletes all of the shifts listed on that page, but you can repeat the process as many times as needed.

How to edit individual shifts
1. Go to Volunteerism > Opportunities.
2. Select the Opportunity with Custom or Recurring Shifts assigned.
3. Click the Edit Shifts tab.
4. Click the pencil icon under the Options column for the shift you want to edit.
5. Complete the Edit Shifts form and click Submit Shift when you're done!
✅ Best practice: We recommend checking the box beside Notify respondents of this update? before you click Submit Shift, especially if the shift already has responses submitted to it.
How to edit shifts in bulk
1. Go to Volunteerism > Opportunities.
2. Select the Opportunity with Custom or Recurring Shifts assigned.
3. Click the Edit Shifts tab.
4. Check the boxes beside each shift you want to edit and click Edit Selected Shifts.
✏️ Quick tip: You can check the box beside the Shift Begins column to select all.
5. Check the box beside the detail you want to edit for those shifts and click Update Shifts when you're ready!
✅ Best practice: We recommend checking the box beside Notify respondents of this update? before you click Update Shifts, especially if the shift already has responses.
How to add shifts
1. Go to Volunteerism > Opportunities.
2. Select the Opportunity with Custom or Recurring Shifts assigned.
3. Click the Edit Shifts tab.
4. Click Add Shifts.
5. Complete the Add Shifts form and click Save Updates to Shifts when you're done!
ⓘ So you know: You can add shifts a maximum of 13 months in advance; however, we recommend only scheduling shifts out 3-6 months in advance. If you schedule them out 3-6 months in advance, it improves the volunteer experience and helps limit any future scheduling conflicts.
How to schedule volunteers for shifts
1. Go to Volunteerism > Opportunities.
2. Select the Opportunity with Custom or Recurring Shifts assigned.
3. Click the Edit Shifts tab.
4. Check the boxes for the shifts you want to schedule volunteers for and click Schedule Volunteers For Shifts.
✏️ Quick tip: You can check the box beside the Shift Begins column to select all.
5. Search for the volunteers you want to schedule by email, name, or category.
6. Select the users and click Add To List.
7. You can add more volunteers or even message the selected users.
8. Click Schedule These Volunteers when you're ready!
✅ Best practice: We recommend checking the box beside Send confirmation to these volunteers before you click Schedule These Volunteers.
