Limiting the number of shifts a volunteer can select

We have a recurring opportunity for an orientation shift. When volunteers sign up, they see all available dates but only need to tick one date (only need to attend one orientation session). I'd like a way to remove the toggle option to "respond to all shifts" so volunteers don't select every single shift for the entire year. Once they do this, it is tedious to go back and remove several months worth of unnecessary shifts.
